Youth Music of the World with Destination Events Ltd and Performance Travel Ltd are delighted to announce the rebirth of the London International Choral Festival (LICF) as part of a new and exciting event ‘The London Springtime Music Festival’.
The inaugural festival will commence on the 16th of March 2026 and will continue until the 11th of April. This gives the fantastic opportunities that the festival offers to performing groups in virtually every school and college across the United States of America, covering as it does nearly all of the spring break dates.
The programme offered for choirs will be infinitely more inclusive and offer opportunities to many more choirs than the predecessor new years’ time London International Choral Festival. By positioning the Festival in the springtime of every year, just as the wide span of available dates allows nearly everybody from the US to travel to perform in their spring break period, it also gives the same opportunities to British, European and even African and Asian groups to travel to perform during their Easter vacations. Thus, the Festival becomes more international than previously with its springtime scheduling.
Choirs now have two opportunities within the Festival. They can come to London and perform their own individual repertoire in two concerts within the Festival. Their immersion in the British Choral tradition will be aided by receiving a Masterclass in the USA from our Choral Festival Directors as well as a further Choral Masterclass when they come to London.
For those choirs who wish a more challenging experience there will be the opportunity for one of the concerts in which they perform to be a Festival Gala Concert in which they join with other choirs from the United States and Europe all singing the same specially selected repertoire accompanied by the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra. This option, of course, requires considerably more work
from the choir and their directors both prior to coming to London and whilst in London. We suspect though that it might be the only opportunity that most choral students would ever have to perform with the accompaniment of a celebrated orchestra.
In the springtime Festival we are also offering opportunities to instrumental musicians. For these groups we will provide a splendid concert opportunity in London where they will perform in the same concert as other groups from overseas or the United Kingdom. In addition they will receive a special Master Class from one of our celebrated British musical directors during their stay in London.
